YOUTH LIVESTOCK PREMIUM SALE EVENT
Saturday, August 7th, 2010 at 1:00 PM

4-H and FFA members spend from 5 to 9 months working with their animal projects.  Youth "learn by doing," and these animals are the direct result of that learning process.  The experience of youth owning and working with animals, being responsible for their care, health and growth, and exhibiting them in a competitive environment is a tremendous character building process.  These young people also learn an appreciation for the livestock industry and how it affects the Nebraska economy.

These youth present the best animals they can for the Livestock Show and Sale in hope of pleasing you, the buyer.

5 WAYS TO BUY!

1.  LIVE ANIMALS
Buyers may arrange for delivery of their purchases on the hoof.  Arrangements should be made with the seller for time of pick-up.  Animals must be removed from the fairgrounds on sale day.

Cost Formula:
Bid Price x Weight = Full Bid Price
Full Bid Price = Net cost to buyer
(ex. Swine)
$2.50 (bid price) x 275 lbs (weight) = $687.50

2.  ANIMALS FOR PROCESSING
Buyers may prefer having their purchase processed.  Livestock purchased for slaughter can be delivered in two local custom processors.  The processor will charge a slaughter fee plus cutting and wrapping fees.

Cost Formula:
Bid Price x Weight = Full Bid Price
Processing Cost x Carcass Weight = Processing Price
Full Bid Price + Processing Price = Net cost to buyer

3.  PREMIUM/RESALE PURCHASE
Bids are recruited by the Sale Committee for purchase at or near market price for live resale.  Specific arrangements and resale amounts will be announced the morning of the sale.  Buyers pay only the amount of bid price over the resale buyers bid.  Premiums over resale price may be tax deductible.  Consult your tax advisor.

Cost Formula:
Bid Price x Weight = Full Bid Price
Buyback Price x Weight = Resale Price
Full Bid Price - Resale Price = Net cost to buyer
(ex. Beef)
$2.00 (bid price) x 1200 lbs (weight) = $2400 (full bid price)
$0.85 (buyback price) x 1200 lbs (weight) = $1020 (resale price)
$2400 (full bid price) - $$1020 (resale price) = $1380 (Net cost to buyer)

4.  JOIN A BUYERS GROUP
Any business or individual that wishes to participate in the sale, but does not want to solely purchase a sale animal, may join a buyers group with friends or neighbors.  The Sale Committee members would be happy to help you with this process.

5.  DONATIONS
Some buyers prefer to have the meat donated to a charitable organization.  The animal will be delivered to one of two local custom processors and harvested.  Recipients may take responsibility for processing and slaughter fees.  This should be arranged with the organization before the sale.  Meat delivery is the buyer's responsibility.

Cost formula:
Bid Price x Weight = Full Bid Price
May be tax deductible (Ask a tax advisor)
